Dormer loft conversions are a form of loft conversion which extend outwards in a box from the pre-existing roof. Dormer conversions will add vertical windows into their design. Internally they provide a significant amount of additional room space as the vertical walls create the greatest amount of space possible. Furthermore, the high roof will add a lot of useful space to the room, particularly when compared to other styles of loft conversion that use pitched roofs, where internally a substantial amount of space is lost in the sloping eaves.
Dormer loft conversions have become extremely popular as they can be very aesthetically pleasing from the exterior. Ensure that you design the external look carefully as big dormers can appear as if they have been simply stuck to the exterior of your home, or otherwise not match the visual style of your property. If the external aesthetics is important, consider using individual cottage style dormers. They may not produce as much space internally, but they cohere with the exterior aesthetics of lots homes, especially period homes or homes in conservation areas.
Dormers can come in either flat roof or pitched roof styles. They can be added to either the side, front or rear of your home, depending on the shape and pitch of your existing roofing. Internally, dormer windows lend themselves to window seats or can offer extra little nooks for additional storage. Dormer windows are very popular as they ordinarily don’t need planning permission. Dormer loft conversions are generally covered under permitted development rights, but it’s always important to verifying with your local authority as limits on size or style can apply in a few areas.

Abberley is a little village in North West Worcestershire, England. It lies in between the River Severn and River Teme. It had a population of 830 in 2001.
There are three sections to the village of Abberley. The oldest section, The Village, dates back to the 12th and 13th century. The Common is the most populated part of the village and has a village shop and post office. There is also the primary school and village hall in this part. The Hill is mainly farmland, with a small amount of houses and cottages residing on the steep slopes of Abberley Hill.
Abberley Hall is on the opposite side of Abberley Hill. It used to be a country house until 1916 when preparatory school Abberley Hall School moved its premises there.
There are two churches in Abberley. The longest-standing is the run-down St. Michael’s Church, although the chancel was restored and is still used for occassional services. St. Mary’s Church was erected between 1850 and 1852 to succeed St. Michael’s to the north of the area.
